Recycling Consolidation Center Project
Mercer County Solid Waste Authority (MCSWA) is proceeding to develop a recycling consolidation center at the Jackson Commerce Park, Jackson Township, Mercer County, PA. The consolidation center will serve as a collection, consolidation, and trans-shipment facility for materials collected in the Mercer County recycling program. MCSWA recycling trucks, after collecting recycled materials like magazines, cardboard, newspaper, etc., will arrive at the center, get weighed, then dump recycled materials into large containers called transtors, which are large steel containers with hydraulic loaders. When transtors are full, they will be dumped into larger trucks for delivery to recycling material recovery facilities or direct to market. The service/office building will house two MCSWA staff who manage the center and administer the MCSWA.

Construction of the $1.8 million center is scheduled to start by the end of October and be completed by May, 2005. Financing for the project is provide by PADEP and Sky Bank.
